A round-headed, deciduous tree with deeply lobed leaves which turn brilliant shades of orange, yellow, or red in fall. Tiny, purple-red flowers are followed by red fruit in late summer. Most cultivars are low growing and shrubby; taller ones form trees or large shrubs. Excellent choice for small gardens, large containers and bonsai. Protect from hot afternoon sun.
